About maintained and non-maintained in Emergency lighting

When our clients make an order of emergency lighting, they often asked " Is it maintained or non-maintained?"
Our emergency lighting can choose maintained or non-maintained by yourselves when you instal the light. Because we use a part in the inside of the light.
1, Maintained. These lights can be on all of the time, such as those lights that light up an exit sign. It would automatically light when the power goes off and it will usually last for 3 hours.
2, Non-Maintained. These only light when the power goes off and will usually last for 3 hours.
